The prestigious event sees the cream of the canine crop show off the best their breed has to offer, but a Welsh Springer Spaniel called Max won applause for a very different reason.<\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\">Max was running alongside his owner in the dig show arena for the Gameskeeper competition when he stopped and squatted. His embarrassed owner scooped up the poop in a bag while a forgiving audience gave both Max and his owner a round of applause. It has been run by the Kennel Club since 1948 and continues to this day as a celebration of our canine companions!<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"864\" height=\"576\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-857 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/006-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/006-4.jpg 864w, https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/006-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/006-4-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\">The Kennel Club is the largest organisation in the UK dedicated to dog health, welfare and training.<\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\">Dogs that have that special something and are <strong>members of the Kennel Club are invited to compete for prizes<\/strong> based on their breed, obedience, special skills like agility or gameskeeping.<\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"655\" height=\"447\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-856 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/002-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/002-6.jpg 655w, https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/002-6-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\">Each category has its own rules. Breeds are judged according to the standard, that is those physical characteristics deemed to make up the perfect example of that breed. Other competitions have their own standard based on what they are testing, for example running a certain course in agility, or performing tasks set in obedience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"655\" height=\"618\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-855 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/004-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/004-7.jpg 655w, https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/004-7-300x283.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>This year a special &#8216;Young Kennel Club&#8217; category has been introduced to showcase the young talent in the dog showing industry<\/strong>. Junior handlers don&#8217;t miss out with a Junior Handling Competition just for younger handlers and is a good way for young people interested in dog showing to see what it&#8217;s like.<\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\">So that our non-pedigree furry companions get to join in the fun, <strong>there&#8217;s also a special crossbreed category called &#8216;Scruffts&#8217;<\/strong> which showcases dogs of mixed breed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"634\" height=\"729\" class=\"wp-image-854 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/wylie-scruffts-winner.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/wylie-scruffts-winner.jpg 634w, https:\/\/www.zookie.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/wylie-scruffts-winner-261x300.jpg 261w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\">Crufts is more than just a dog show! It&#8217;s about healthy and happy dogs doing what they&#8217;re bred to do. It&#8217;s about your life with dogs, and boasts a number of exhibitors to assist you with everything you could want (obviously a pooper scoop comes in handy!).<\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\">There&#8217;s even a special meet and greet in the <strong>Discover Dogs area which allows you to meet over 200 pedigree dog breeds and their owners!<\/strong> You can ask any burning questions you have, which is the ideal way to help you decide what breed will be your perfect companion!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"txt\">Have you been to Crufts?
