You’d be barking mad to miss Puppy Bowl

Forget the Super Bowl, we’re hanging out for Puppy Bowl 2015—the annual TV show that emulates the Super Bowl with an all-star cast of adorable puppies.

Now in its 11th year, Puppy Bowl is seriously one of the most popular and absolute cutest games to grace the screen. Okay, so it might not be the biggest sporting event on the calendar, but by god it hands down comes tops for cuteness!

The whole premise sees a bunch of pups and a pile of doggy toys placed on a 10-by-19-foot indoor football field and allows furry havoc to reign supreme. Sounds like fun right? Well it certainly is for the spectators, who get to sit back and coo over the super-cute puppies tackling and tumbling.

This year there’s one difference, rather than it being every dog for himself, the 55 participating puppies have been divided into two teams—Fluff and Ruff. (I’m feeling an “awww” coming on!)

The stars of Puppy Bowl (some of which are pictured above) aren’t just any old Fido or Fred. The 85 puppies that attended the initial shoot (only 55 were selected) came from 37 animal shelters around America and Puerto Rico.  What’s more, all except three of the 85 pups have since been adopted.

From touch downs and puppy penalties to fierce fouls and….dwarf goat cheerleaders (yes, you heard right!), Puppy Bowl is promising to be every bit as fun and perhaps even more compelling viewing than previous years.

Puppy Bowl 2015 airs on the Animal Planet channel in the US on Sunday, February 2nd at 3pm.

In the meantime, check out some of the highlights and behind-the-scenes shots from Puppy Bowl 2014.
